Could this be real? Could it be stolen? Where would I even start? Monet

It is because you are who YOU are Kasper. :)

Kasper, I would suspect that since you're new on the scene folks will gravitate to you that, have tried other auction houses, been sent away from other auction houses, or have had no luck with other auction houses.

Also, times are tough for many folks who will look to you for ready cash ...for damn near anything they have laying about.

The free hoard of liquid grapes.......I can't explain !:confused::confused:

Why not contact a curator of Museum with an Impressionist collection and ask for their opinion? It can't hurt to ask.

Monet was the king of painting series. I think the Haystacks numbered in the twenties. The lily pads, the gardens, almost everything was painted multiple times.

Of course, I don't know if it is a real Monet or not, but wondering what size yours is Kaspers? Are all of the sea arch paintings the same size?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

OK, so y'all know I play with Photoshop........so I took Kasper's pic and the "original" Monet ......matched them up size-wise.....and then overlaid one on top of the other......then reduced the opacity so you could "see through" to the other......the outline of the structure was EXACTLY the same....honest!!! If someone were doing that freehand, there would naturally be differences......NO differences present!!!! If THAT doesn't sound like someone copied at least the outline, then did their own in-painting......I don't know what does.......but I HAVE been known to be wrong........on rare occasion

I don't have any kind of expert opinion.....but the photos of the real Monets "touch" me and "move" me, in a way the painting under discussion does not. I might equate that to an intuition that the first one is not by Monet.
I do think that it would be best to consult an expert though.

Agreed, Aquitaine, the natural sea arch would not be exactly outlined in an original unless Monet used a templet. Have you compared any others in the known series posted here?

Steve, THAT was my first reaction too.
