I can't find anything with the Wriggins. The second name is extremely worn. The last 4 letters are rden. I tried Rearden and some other combinations without any luck. The patent date looks like 1847. Maybe this is the retailer but had no luck with that either. There is a small mark next to the W but I didn't have any luck with that either. There is no mark for sterling but it tested positive. Any idea who Wriggins is? Thank you!

Thank you! When I googled just Wriggins, nothing came up with this company and Wriggins was not listed on the 925 site. May I ask where you found it?

I looked at your pic and It looked like the top part of a "W" started the second word.

Warden was the first name that popped into my head, then I googled it.

Desparate_fun, you have great eyesight! I could not make out the W on the second word, not even with a magnifying glass. :(

It's a Rogers spoon - it has their 1847 mark.

Now that I have the correct name, I found this information in case anybody else is interested.

Thomas Wriggins / Wriggins & Co.
    Philadelphia, PA 1831-1876
Was in the partnership of Wriggins & Co.
1831-1835, 1842-1846, and 1869-1876. Was also in the partnership of
    Wriggins & Warden 1856-1868.

I didn't know that Rogers made sterling, I thought they made only silverplate?

As far as I know they only made plated items.

It's coin silver, Wriggins & Warden were retailers, the pattern is John Polhamus' 'Louis XIV', John C. Moore's 1847 Design Patent #114.

Interesting. I thought Rogers Brothers were the only ones using the 1847 mark. I'll have to look more closely at spoons if it turns up again.

The mark on this piece is 'PATENT 1847'. Just as a note, Meriden Britannia did offer sterling spoons and forks in most of their '1847 Rogers Bros.' flatware patterns - the ones I've seen were marked only 'Sterling', suspect not many were made to start with and now most likely go unrecognized...

Sorry, should have been more clear, the sterling versions that I've run across bore no maker's marks, only 'Sterling' - I recognized the patterns as 1847 Rogers...
