Various crystal pieces

I would like to find out information about the history and value of these crystal pieces. Thank you!

 

Is it just me, or are you walking us thru an estate sale where you are hoping to buy , but really don't have much of a clue as to what you're looking at ?

Oh...& BTW....this site is not set up to value items , although some members may wish to venture an approximation.

 

komakwa, No. I am walking through my grandparents house. Yes,I don't have a clue and that is why I am asking people. Could you keep your negative comments to yourself. And I am truly interested in the history of the items. No one else seemed to have a problem giving me a clue about value. I am not looking for exact valuation. Just an idea. Thanks.

 

Check yhe McKee innovayiion lines early 1900's. Replacements is a good start.

 

Value will depend on many factors. People on this board are from all over the world so what might be popular in one place might not in another. If you're looking for an online value you can check Ebay sold items or some of the many auction sites.

Condition is always an issue so you will need to inspect each item for anything that might be considered a blemish which could include fading, scratches, wear, chips, cracks, crazing and many other things depending on the item. Even popular items may drop to a fraction of what they might be worth if not pristine.

Hello Alc - I agree that with George that McKee Innovations is a good place to start for the relish and the bowl in the first two pictures. The pitcher looks to be pressed glass with cut accents but I can't quite see it well enough to tell for sure. I can't remember the pattern of the candle holders but frankly it doesn't matter as they don't have much value. The basket is most likely Duncan Miller but a number of glass companies produced paneled baskets and it's very difficult to tell them apart.

I'm afraid none of these items have a great deal of value. Under $50 each in today's market here in the Midwest USA. And that is assuming no nicks on any of the points. They have more value as family pieces if someone is willing to give them a home.

We can give you some information, but you've shown a lot of stuff in many different categories. Is your family going to get rid of this and you need pricing to sell or are you thinking you want to keep some? Our replies would hinge on that. For me, the value of some objects is based more on nostalgia for what it represents than on the dollar value. Komokwa wasn't being snippy, just probably trying to figure out what you're really looking for.

Online valuations are helpful, but not the end of the line. If you think you are going to sell some or all of it, I recommend you look in your area for reputable tag sale companies. I've been in the antique business most of my life through my parents store and my own. When my best friend's mother passed, I went up and went through the house with her to give her a beginning appraisal, but then I hooked her up with an estate sale company. We could tell you that item B looks to be about $25, but that doesn't mean you'll get that when you try to sell it. On the other hand, Customer Smith might come in and has been looking for just that item to round out a collection and will pay $30. Don't use the internet as your final answer is all I'm saying. Hands on appraisals can be quite different.

Well it was only after landing on the 34th post of items you are looking to value , did I notice you mention these are your grandparents items.

If you had first introduced yourself to the board , saying hello & telling us a bit about yourself and your need for an understanding of your grandparents collection of household items , then my question of your circumstance would never have been asked.

At that moment you would have also received clear and concise directions from several helpful members on how to display your items in photographs , what we need to see , condition and size , so as to best achieve for you the proper identification in an effort to help you find current values.

Then you would have appreciated that first you need to help us , if we are going to be of any help to you.
If you want us to work for you , for free, then you need to do some work for us, first.

That being said , you can already see folks here are jumping at the chance to help you , so please remember you came here asking for our expertise & in no way have any control, or have any right to tell anyone here what they can or can not say in response to any of your posts.

I did say that they were my grandparents items on some of my first posts, but for the sake of redundancy, I did not say this every time. there are a lot of items, and I am just trying to help my mom out with getting info... I'm sorry I cannot provide more details as I only have the photos to work off of. I'm just trying to get a starting point. I realize what I am providing is not ideal. I know more info is better. But this is all I have. You do not need to give info if you don't want to.

 

I'm not asking for anyone to work for free. I just thought this would be a great site to get input from people who are passionate about antiques.

 

I did read the sticky rules before I ever posted. Didn't know people would give me a hard time.

You can hire an appraiser for a verbal appraisal - they can help you weed out what's a true antique, or give (unresearched) valuations on specific items.
A lot of people need this to fairly distribute heirlooms, household goods etc.
You just follow them around and write or voice record the consultation.
It's much less than commissioning a written and researched appraisal which can take many more hours than the initial consultation.

Well...so far I've been nothing but nice , factual and helpful...............with an honest question that deserved an honest answer.....without attitude.

If you read what I wrote , and follow some guidelines ....the help here for you will be amazing.

If the pics you've presented are all that you have , with no back story or sizes or condition , then the passionate folks here will have their hands tied , & may not be able to give you the full veracity of their combined knowledge.

We do what we can with what we're presented.......and to add to what you may glean here , I'd suggest you find the best antique store in your area and have the owner drop by and give you a hands on evaluation of your lovely items.
