When it says poison on the label, don't drink it:)
I picked up this sweet single bookend - art deco pixie that has had a hard life. Her head has been glued back on and missing paint on her nose. She is a keeper, I've never seen one of these before and don't mind the damage. Her face is metal rather than Ivorine - I thought they were always Ivorine but I guess not.
Also picked up this little Japanese mixed metal vase with the Nogawa mark on the base.

Does celluloid date her to the 1920s?

I think the clear plastic collar liner that comes with nice mean's shirts could work for you though I doubt it is stable and so may out gas.

Terry - is that bottled liquid like (or the same as) what I've heard referred to as "flux?"

Yes. This is a clear liquid. There are many types of flux. The top of the box says it cannot be mailed. This, in the day when there was no Postal list of prohibited items.

Pfff - shows how closely I was paying attention. If it was a sub I'd have beaten you to it. A good friend and a cousin both served time in a submarine. I'd say served aboard, but when you're stuck in a tin can with no daylight....

Looks familiar, and definitely flux. I've done a little, a very little, silver work over the centuries and it requires the use of all sorts of chemical nasties. Then again, my little bottles of gold paint carry the warning: carcinogenic. Gee thanks.

    Hmmmmm.... Doubt it! :)
That is what my son did. He ran the nuclear plant. I was surface, Destroyer types
Still can't/doesn't talk about any of it.
This is what he was given for being on the decom crew with his first sub.

The block of metal is a section of her hull, the link is from her anchor chain.
He has moved a lot and so there's been some damage. :(
