I found similar open hand to have been used on 17th C. German pieces but this is much younger. Seems like hand can be seen on Sheffield pieces as well. No luck with the castle/tower which I guess is possibly a town mark. The "D" maybe a date code?

    Any help with the marks?
    Thanks

If it's silverplated - and I don't doubt that for the moment, although pewter might also be likely - there isn't going to be a town mark and only very rarely (specific to certain British makers or later US manufacturers) a date code.

The marks aren't ringing any bells, sorry.

The glass is pressed, not cut so I vote silverplated as well.

Thanks, cluttered, I have not been able to find that particular maker using additional symbols with their "hand" maker's mark. I'm not even sure they survived into the era of electroplate, having started in business as makers of "Sheffield plate."

Here's a site that has a photo of their mark (N. Smith)
