I recently saved this rocking chair from a trip to the dump... love this chair.. love it.. however I have ADD and have spent at least 10 hrs online trying to find anything out about it. I will leave a link to the only chair I found that's almost identical but with a few differences. Yet the link still tell me nothing.. if anyone can help with information WHO ITS MADE BY? HOW OLD IS IT? IS IT REALLY TEAK WOOD? IS IT WORTH THE MONEY TO RETORE? WHAT IS ITS VALUE IS? I would be so so grateful. Thank you. Here's the link to chair I found online https://guide.alibaba.com/t-shop/fr...ropean-teak-teak-home-furniture_76699976.html
And here is my chair I rescued

Knee jerk reaction is its an Indonesian(?) copy of a victorian rocker ,1970s perhaps. Its a great looking chair and for free its a keeper. The cost of getting ANYTHING recovered these days is ridiculous ,Im thinking itd be way more than the chair is worth. Unless of course you plan on rocking in it until you shuffle off this mortal coil, then go for it.

This is a so-called plantation rocker and likely from Indonesia. It is based on a colonial era chair from India, I believe. Don't believe it is all that old. Probably worth recovering if you can do it yourself or if it is worth the money to pay someone to do it for yourself. If paying someone to restore for resale, it is unlikely that you would ever get your cost back out. It is made of plantation mahogany, that is a marketing word for any number of sustainable species of hardwoods grown for the furniture industry in Southeast Asia.

What leads u to believe knock off? And from 70's wouldn't anything made in 70' be machine made and not hand carved. Pics very clearly show its hand carved and not machine made. Carvings do not mirror each other from one side to other. And there is definitely no screws or bolts holding anything together.

I'll need someone to lead me to evidence this is a knock off 70's chair. I been collecting for a long time. (Not furniture) however like I stated in post. I have ADD and have been obsessed with research on chair for at least 10 hrs or more. If it was a repo, surely in 10 hrs and thousands and thousands of photographs I would have found more then 1 similar chair. (Witch is in link above) not convinced yet.. convince me people lol.

I can't tell from what all has been said but . . . DO YOU WANT to KEEP THE CHAIR FOR YOURSELF and use and enjoy it OR do you want to repair or at least gussy-up the chair so that you can sell it?

Welcome, Jeremiah. Please don't worry about the duplicate thread thing, happens a lot, and the moderator will solve it.
That is an amazing accomplishment for an ADD person, I know, I am one too. It is when that hyperfocus thing kicks in. Bad for you, but it happens. At least you have your comfy chair to rest in.;)

I Have not even thought about selling it, however money talks and BS walks. I simply am trying to find out information about it. Cause there is none to be found online.

Yeah, I'd say above is correct.
I'd guess your chair is loosely based on "Sleepy Hollow" victorian chairs.
    ORIGIN OF SLEEPY HOLLOW CHAIR
an armchair of the mid-19th century, sometimes on rockers, having a single piece forming a high upholstered back and a concave upholstered seat.

First recorded in 1835–45; after Sleepy Hollow, New York
Kind of a victorian version of today's La Z Boy

Yep, they have and, all styles too, not only victorian but colonial american as well.
OTOH, IF your chair was period and IF it was built by Karpen and IF the condition was good or better, sleepy hollow chairs can be worth some money. A lot of If's in there.

And sadly not the same quality.
But... I can imagine a European colonial reclining in this one after a day sweating in the tropical heat of the Madura Salt Office. Nothing but glittering salt fields and boring pen pushers all day, a cold beer in this chair at night.
