Yeah!!! I am actually learning something from looking at all of this silver stuff!! :smug::smug:
The one with the thistle is one that I thought just by the look of it might be sterling. :D:D:D

Time to reveal the goodies. I'll start with a photo of the items confirmed to be plated, and then I'll post a bunch of photos of the silver spoons including markings (if they had markings). Plated items:

Please keep posting MRNate. I get enthused to get out searching myself. Not quite so easy here in UK as most stuff is fully hallmarked and most people know to look for the lion passant thanks to Antiques Roadshow and the other antiques and collectibles television programmes. There are lots.

I sometimes get lucky, but usually it's like today. The only real silver I found was priced well over melt and not worth keeping. A nice looking coffee pot I was sure was plated was ... plated. International Silver Co. The Ill Will had some of those silver-rimmed coasters too, but they were plated too. Better luck next week! Maybe MrNate will rub off a bit on all of us!

Funny story ! Inspired by Mr. Nates finds I started hunting down my souvenir spoons. As Im notorious for tucking things away I dug and dug for literally hours. I looked high and low,and was getting convinced someone had pinched them when I happened to look in one of those fake book safes on the bookshelf and there they were ! I must have put them there when we went to my nieces wedding 2 years ago ! Im going to be one of those stories you see when they clear out my house and find all manners of treasures in odd places ! LOL !
