OK, not so mysterious as I think it is Persian (but I might be wrong, it happened before) and mother of pearl (storyteller type).. but I have no idea what the black material it is and the question is... should I try to remove it or leave it the way it is ? Any way of verifying if it's glass or turquoise ? Thank you so much ! :):)

That looks like reverse painted glass .Im guessing the turquiose is glass as well. Id call it better than average "costume" and very pretty . I think some age as well. Im no expert though.

Agreed glass centers with the birds and turquoise...brass back, possibly Peruvian?

I'd say Persian for sure; the centers are painted mother of pearl or a good simulant. Classical Persian. The setting oddly looks like brass; I've never seen those painted pieces in a costume setting before.

Agree with evelyb. Persian, so most likely Persian turquoise not glass.

The back is brass, so those bits could easily be glass.

    Thank you, everybody !
Maybe the black gunk is some sort of glue to keep it together.. so it wouldn't be wise to try clean it.. ;)

Absolutely Persian, and really nice. And yes, mother of pearl painted with birds, symbolizing paradise, and hunters or polo players. My guess is the blue stones are glass, but could you take a close up of one the pendants?
The black gunk is meant to be there.:)

    Pretty pendant!!!
Glad you didn't try to remove the black "gunk"! That could damage the paintings...
How are the "turquoises" held? I can't see any setting bezels nor prongs, so suspecting they are glued... Another no no for cleaning;)

Sorry it took me so long, but here it is... It looks like the turquoises are actually glass and glued ?
Thank you for stopping me.. sometimes I have strange impulses to clean some jewelry and not always end well.. :inpain::inpain:

The turquoise is so uniform in size, shape & color, I have to think glass. If kyra is correct & they are glued in, that's another clue. There's no reason for the MOP not to be real though.
