:pompous: I thought on Googling that I would find examples of this compact but nada.
Do you think this has some age or modern and has just had a rough life?.
Difficult to show but the enamel is a stunning colour.
Is this a slightly odd item to have a military insignia or not?
Just curious as I can’t find any others to compare- rare or rubbish?(not literally rubbish but you know what I mean)
    Thankyou

I think it definately has some age to it and yes .. it is rather a strange design for a compact, that's if it is a compact, can we see it opened ??? ... Joy. :)

They made things like this right up to Viet Nam here in the States, probably still do, for soldiers to send home to a wife/girlfriend/mother.

That makes sense Bronwen and Davey.
    Any guesstimate of age?

And that's just given me the right search term to find similar items :smug:

Agree, it's a bit basic but the enamel was why I picked it up. No idea whodunnit but I'll have a look at a few to see if the pattern on the back is recognisable.

I have no doubt the enamel is more vivid & alluring than photos can capture. No need to apologize for liking it, just hacking our way through the jungle of compacts, trying to see if we can determine more about yours. Think Stratton can be ruled out. :)

I completely misread that as Camosleuth. Haven't even had a glass of wine yet. I spent a good minute or so musing about whether it was like this-

    Or this?

Or even this? But rapidly discounted this as a possibility :hilarious:

EBay does sometimes suggest to me, when I'm doing cameo searches, that maybe I really mean camo. Especially love the first pic.

I agree. I think this could be quite old and although it’s not in the best condition I would put that down to wear and tear rather than craftsmanship as the back looks nicely engine turned and the front a nice purple enamel. I’d keep hold of it because I can’t find anything remotely similar; plenty of items with the flaming grenade motifs but not like this. Anything unusual is rare and rarity means value to someone. Could be a slow burner but worth keeping.

Thankyou!. You are echoing my thoughts that it could catch a collectors interest but also I just liked it despite the condition. I'm out £8 on it and for that cost I'm not bothered if it stays with me for a bit. Thankyou for taking the time to look for other examples for me. If I find any more information I will update the thread.
