Missing paint, isn't this kind of cool? Approx 7"x7". Do you think in present condition (luckily no chips) it would have resale value on Ebay or should I just consign it?

Pretty! Too bad about the crack. I have no clue on value.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

What a fancy chicken. I like to think I know my ornamental fowl, and I've never seen THAT before. I'll look around... maybe might help identify your piece?

Lots of people will buy non-perfect items! To study, to add charm to the room, as an example of whatever...

And that little thing is just darling!

    I like her Egyptian hairdo!

Thanks, all. It probably is a consignment item. The crack actually struck me as a manufacturing flaw, it kind of looks like the clay split when it was made, but maybe got worse over time. It isn't fragile feeling in that area. I think worse than that is the paint loss in the front, but I still thought it had sort of a cool, antique/French vibe. (Well, French speaking Belgium, anyway.) Thanks!

The bird is a version of a golden pheasant. It's a nice piece, pity about the star crack but with a plant in it who would know.

Wow, well done on the bird ID Houseful, and love the photo, Gila.

Can't believe this was an actual bird! (I thought maybe a fantasy bird.)

    Thank you! :)

Yes, Houseful (love the name, by the way...) helped me on another post, too. A valued member of this site. Much appreciated. :):):)

You're welcome Lucille. It's not often I can help as there are so many people here so much better informed about antiques than myself.
I'm stuck on a couple of things I found recently so I'll be asking for help soon too.

Houseful, I, too, am impressed that you ID'd that bird! (And thanks, Gila, for the photo!)

I looked at Lucille's original photo, and all I could think of was a bird wearing one of those English judges' or barristers' wigs!

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I know... I just couldn't get past that! It's a very... umm... playful? fanciful? take on the bird.
I really think it will attract some interest, wherever Lucille puts it. It's MEMORABLE.
