Hi everyone needing help with the pattern on this vase. I hope you can see the pattern I took them in the store. It is about 14 inch tall. Does it look like cut crystal or glass. I know a lot of you are good with patterns. TIA for everything you do here. IMG_1568.JPG IMG_1569.JPG IMG_1570.JPG

To me it looks like a molded and cut vase from Eastern Europe post WW2 giftware.

Thanks George. So you think it has that kind of age to it? They are asking 20 bucks for it, do you think that's to much, or do think it would be worth more? I know we don't like to talk about worth but don't want to buy for 20 and its worth 10. How do you tell if it's that old?

Hi Roger - I agree with George that it looks like post WW2 giftware. Personally, if I were buying for resale I would pass. These items can be very difficult to sell. This type of giftware is not as popular as it used to be. It's almost impossible to sell on eBay and would be a slow mover in a booth. At one time they were popular wedding and housewarming gifts but folks today just regard them as dust catchers.

The main pattern - the stars - look molded. You can tell by the lack of sharp lines. The center of the top stars and the files on the side are the cut details but nothing special. I have heard that the cut details allow the pieces to be imported as cut glass which has a lower import duty than pressed glass.

It's a pretty thing but it's at a fair price now without much, if any, room for an increase. Hope this helps.
    Don

Thanks Don. That's what I wanted to hear. I have spent so much money on things that I like but worth nothing or I couldn't resell. Thanks guys for all the time you put into this website to help people.
