Horse Hames

I picked up 2 pair of some horse hames that I am trying to figure out how to decorate with.
Maybe hang from the porch ceiling with some lantern lights from them, not sure yet.......
If you have any ideas let me know....

Anyway, are these worth restoring/refinishing? They are heavy, metal and are rusted.

I like stuff like this.

Just want to make sure it's not worth too much if I do hang them outside.

Thoughts?

I don't know but suspect there are a least 16 brillion of these.

I've been saving 'Spanish', maybe it's Mexican style, lighting fixtures for a while and they would look great on these methinks.

 

Yes, there is never a shortage of these and for $10, I'm not complaining....
Since they are metal and heavy, I have to figure out how and where to hang these without the ceiling coming down hahaha.
Regardless I will need to at least get some of the rust off, or I might change my mind and leave it as is, haha

I assume you will use 'closed' eye bolts into the rafters. You should be fine with those of the correct size, at least 1/4" and at least 1.5" into the rafter dead center. Paint them an unobtrusive color.
I'd wipe off most rust with a Scothbrite pad and leave them rusty or maybe clear coat them in matte finish over rust that is not loose.

I always liked mirrors made with them. Even if you don't have the leather collar they're pretty cool.

 

Well I finally got off my butt and started to clean these.
I found an interesting mark on one.
Any idea of what that mark is?
