Featured Pencil sketching? Can anyone read the signature?

Another piece of art that my Mother purchased and gave to me. It has been in my closet for a long time. My sister and I called her creepy girl! I can’t read the artist signature. Anyone recognize this artist?

Marillon Delinwrit ? …. if that is even a name?

 

Hmmmm.... I didn’t see Hamilton. The first letter looks more like an “M” but the rest does look right. The last name has me stumped for sure. I saw what you did Brad. “Delinwrit”. Doesn’t sound like a name to me.

I agree with "Marillon" as the first name (as best I can tell, it's either a variant of Marilyn or a surname which became a first name - or both).

But I would love a higher resolution photo of the signature.

I don't see "creepy." I see elvish, pixie-ish, something like that.

 

I will try in daylight to get a better resolution.

 

I find it curious that her hair is so short. It would not be put up if she is as young as I think she is meant to be. Usually the problem is telling long-haired little boys from their sisters. Guessing earrings have coral beads. Coral was thought to have protective powers.

 

Could the last part of the "name" not be the full name but be Delin (i.e drawn; deliniated) plus .....

Seems to be short only around the face. Maybe it is long at the back, and braided in a bun. A bit like this, only with the front and sides cut short

 

It's possible, but I don't think so.

I do think there's a strong probability that the surname is a two-parter, "de lescribble," but I'm not committing to anything at this stage.

 

The hair we can see does not appear pulled back to me & thought it was a big deal when a girl first began to put her hair up, like boys moving from short pants to trousers, & did not happen until an older age than this gal looks. You need really long hair to braid & coil that way. When I had hair down to my waist I sometimes wore it like that.

The clothing looks rather traditional folk, maybe from somewhere in Central Europe. If so, hair styles and customs were quite different.

I used to do it with two braids. The one I posted is from a Croatian traditional braiding site, I think they also coil two braids into each other.

The Croatians are top braiders, and it is all traditional.
