Too bad I didn't see this on my trip. I saw many corks in thrifts in DC and TN.

I needed a lift. Ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir from Steve BIRD Wineries (New Zealand)... total of around 30 bucks through local wine-guy who assured me it had a bird cork. Arrived only to discover... SCREW TOP! Happily, he gave me a refund.

 

Good grief! ALL NZ wine is screwtop! What possessed him to think otherwise?

 

No idea, Abuela... I questioned it at the time but... I had the FRENZY... you know... when you collect something and there seems a possibility and you haven't found an object in a long time and...

Tell you what I'm going to do. Next time I'm at the store and have the time to peruse the vast array of wines on their shelves, I'll see what looks like it might have a bird illustration on the cork. If it's reasonably priced and a variety I would drink, I'll buy it, drink it and send you any bird corks that turn up. OK?
