Heavy Solid? silver bowl.

Looking for info on this bowl. Most of the tarnish was removed. Scrap if solid silver.

 

In order to tell you if this bowl is "solid silver" just from pictures, we're going to need to see marks that identify it as such. If "most of the tarnish was removed" any marks should be visible. Did you do the cleaning that removed the tarnish?

Getting pictures of silver marks often requires having a camera with excellent closeup focus.

Does yours have the bottom covered in felt, like the one INH found?

Well, if there were any marks on the piece, that's where they should be. When you see felt underneath, the chances that the item is solid silver drop to almost nil. The seller of the one on ebay only claimed silver plate and had no info on the maker. I think they were right about plate and not solid.

 

Yes. TY. It is silver plate over copper. That is why it is so heavy.

 

Old copper. Silver plate isn't worth anything.
