I'd quite like to have Aragorn, let alone the pendant. ;)

Obb... if you have Aragorn... you'll have the socks and boxers, which comes with him, to wash!:hilarious:;) that's why I renounced to get Georges Clooney... or Sean Connery:joyful:

Pretty exciting especially since many of the things at sothebys tend to go for more or much more than the estimate. Here's hoping!

I found an estate sale/tag sale on Thursday morning, of all times. Should have stayed home. I spent half an hour getting there after the dumb body woke me an hour before the alarm would have. Got there to find ... nobody home. Not a professional team, and the crowd I was expecting failed to materialize. There were two of us waiting to get in. It turned out this was the second or third sale at the same place and those who'd known about it had already been there. The only upside is it was just up the road from Trader Joe's and their free coffee samples ... and bathroom.

Spent $10 on some little dolphin earrings with 14k posts and a few other bits. I did find some better stuff in charity stores later, but the big spend of the day was gasoline. Better luck next time I guess.

Today was an improvement, to say the least. I went to a church thrift that's only open on Friday mornings. One person was looking at jewelry when I got there and another followed after me. The former bought a ring I looked at and thought "nahhh, costume" but it was pretty and she liked it. She got the ring for $4. The other lady picked out a Christmas pin, also $4. I ended up spending $34.50 on jewelry and $4 on a cashmere sweater for a friend. (he has a rotten bad back)

    For my $34.50 I got:
    A Swarovski swan tac pin
3 pair of gold earrings, two marked for 14k and one not marked. The screwbacks are headed straight into my hoard - they're Forstner. The big ones have had their posts cut off, so they're scrap metal.
Gold-filled MCM earrings looking like a bowl.
Krementz white gold-plated rhinestone brooch and earrings
Malachite beads begging for a restring
A link necklace with no marks - possibly silver
and what I think is an Indian necklace - wire inlaid into some sort of resin.

Ruth, the black and silver inlay necklace is African, I had a similar one a few years ago. I will dig out my research and post what I had :)

OK, I have in my records that the beads are made of resin with silver wire decoration and they are Mauritanian from western Africa.

This is the necklace I had:

    Marie,
Do you have a system set up for you to find your past research so efficiently that you could share? How do you keep your records organized? I need to organize my "stuff" better.

I’m a compulsive filer. I have every ID question I have ever asked on several boards along with their photos and answers. I also have all the photos and descriptions of everything I have ever listed for sale online.

I have a spread sheet of all my selling stock, each item has a number and I keep a record of what it is, where I got it, what I paid for it, what I sold it for and any fees on the sale.

In this case I remembered I had asked for help on the boards about the necklace. I went to my folder of answered questions, searched for “black silver” and found the information. I also remembered I sold the necklace last summer, so I also searched my 2018 list of sold items for “necklace” and verified the info.

    Scary, isn’t it :D

BMRT - the star and those earrings are souvenirs of Israel, or at least Palestine. Bethlehem and Jerusalem are the town usually marked on the back if there's a mark.

Thanks! I'm a little surprised. From what I can find they're still being made, if not as well.

Now, I'd have thought that black and silver was Bidri ware. Interesting!

Hm. The pin back and hinge are late 19th, but I think the brooch may actually be far older. Someone has taken an ancient pennanular and modified it.
