Anyone know what this is

    it gets mounted on the work bench,its a shoe makers tool....i have no idea:bigtears:

    Maybe it's just an intricate machine for corking or uncorking wine bottles like others have said.

    Something to do with wine. Maybe. Good direction to look though.

    If the lever is moved, does that make the jaws open and close?
    If not, I think it may have been mis-assembled; I can't imagine the lever was intended to go through the triple-jawed item as it is now. If the lever did not go through there, the triple jaws would open and close as the ring was moved back and forth, possibly with the lever placed below the ring instead of through the jaws.
    In that case, it could be a bench-mounted cherry-pitter or similar; or a pipe-reamer, or a clamp or vise, for items to be held in the jaws.
