This is whom I believe to be my Great great great grandmother, Agusta Oberlander Blair (1805-1886)

Brad, that is wonderful to hear! It's so interesting to see photos of one's ancestors. I have never seen a photo earlier than a "great great." Never a "three greats"!

It is a pretty interesting thing that the internet has made possible. My dad was one of 12 kids and these photos went to his oldest sister. My grandfather broke up housekeeping and moved to Florida in the late 50s so I am guessing that this is when many transferred to her. They are being posted now by her granddaughter. Our family has very little from that side of the family.

Having a picture of a "3 times great" is quite a blessing! For all the pictures I have, there are only 2 of a 3X great grandmother - one an ambrotype in case, the note saying she was in her late 30's and the other a 4 generation photo from the late 1890's - the youngest generation including my grandfather at about 3 or 4 years old. Thank goodness that someone attached a long note to the back identifying everyone in the group!

    Annotate your photos, people!!

Yes, with so many children in a family those things can definitely happen. My father had a similarly large family but it seems that a lot of the photos and other things went to my father's youngest brother. But not all ... Another brother of my father's had some. When he died, because he did not have any children, his wife dispersed some of the photos elsewhere. I ended up with a photo of my grandmother in her first Communion dress from the first decade of the 20th century. However, my other uncle who has quite a few photos is still alive. He has children so the photos will probably go to them some day.

Of course she stopped walking around when I turned the camera on

Terry, if that was Muffy who walked to the food bowl and was eating when another large cat came by, I think she must be on the mend.

She certainly did give that other cat who followed her through the doorway a withering ("don't even think about it you old stinkeroo you") look before she started eating again.

    Your cats are beautiful.

Sorry if this goes against the rules of the thread as these aren't photos in my possession. I just love both photos and wanted to share.

The first one I came across the other day on the internet and am thinking of making it my profile pic. The second one my brother came across a while back, and I think it's fascinating.

Love the kitty with little mouse toy!

That second one looks like characters in a play or maybe at a fair?
