I seem to find these oddities at one of the many local auctions I attend. Measures about 10 inches tall. It almost looks like a nice vintage Tepco, Fulper or some other 1940's vase. However, with my luck, it will be a modern repo. Whatcha think?

Wow! Cool! Mine isn't signed Fulper. Is that common or not so?

It is Fulper. Not all were signed but it looks like I see a faint outline of the racetrack mark under glaze on yours. It is just off center running from about 10 o'clock to about 5 o'clock. Nice color combination on this.

You guys are awesome! Interesting story behind this purchase. I found it at a local auction a few days ago. It was part of an antique booth dealer liquidation. It was sitting on a table with various other box lots and individual pottery items. The entire table of about 20-25 items were sold "choice" by the auctioneer. That means the high bidder would pick his/her choice of items from that table at the price, per piece they bid.

I was willing to "risk" $15.00 on this vase. It still had the "antique" dealer's price tag of $39.00 on it. I thought the vase might be old but there are so many reproductions it's hard to tell anymore! I got it for $12.50.

I wonder how many people who passed through that dealers' booth and looked at that vase and thought $39.00 was too expensive???

D*** nice find. As Brad sez, GREAT colors. Fulper has fallen on some real hard times but this is a killer piece that surely holds some still strong value.

It's amazing this coulda sat on any shelf for very long with a $39 price tag. I mean that's a REAL no brainer for someone with even the slightest inkling of what it is. The quality of Fulper shines through marked or not. Very distinctive. 'Course I'm right here in the heart of Fulper territory so I see a lot. (South Jersey.)

We don't see a lot of Fulper out here and many don't know what it is. Pottery is so dead right now and a lot of people don't know or care. I have had zero luck selling anything halfway good locally. The buyers here would think $39.00 is a fortune to pay for a piece of pottery.

There are good buys at the local auction when things come up. We don't see much good pottery but occasionally something will come through. The Roseville goes cheap but a little higher than some since people know what it is. I bought my piece of Teco similarly at auction where it was choice from a lot. I was prepared to go up to $350.00 on it and thought I might get outbid. I got it for $40.00. It was marked but partially obscured by glaze. The auctioneer thought it might be Chinese characters...... Of course everyone was viewing the mark horizontally, whereas, Teco is marked vertically. The dealers here aren't dumb but they sure missed this one. God forbid that a rusty gas can would get away from them ...... LOL!

The lack of sales really surprises me since pottery like this goes so well in mid-century modern decor. Or is plastic and cheap glass more appealing to younger generations?

Some people want old or at least old looking. The look is more important than pedigree. A $5.00 vase is as good as a $100.00 vase to them. Here is the look that is hot in our neck of the woods.........

Brad, is the farm in the article in your neck of the woods? I'm not sure I'd be comfortable living in it, but I like the look.

Can't sell anything decent here either. The manager at our mall says all anyone wants is pyrex mixing bowls.

That is Joanna and Chip Gaines farm from the HG-TV show, Fixer Upper. It is filmed in Texas. They have turned their home remodeling business into a multi-million dollar concern. They use their farm as a showcase but have a store, bed and breakfast, on-line catalog, and Joanna has just released a line of furniture. I actually appreciate the look but can't find enough cheap goods to duplicate it. Our customers won't pay the kind of prices she asks in her catalog even though the prices are not all that ridiculous.
