I came across a few signed art glass pieces. I realize the signatures are a crapshoot, but I also need keyword advice, please.

Vase: Would you call this "rubina"? The cranberry color at the top fades into the crystal nicely, with an applied white thread surrounding.

My first guess on the signature was "Haley", but it looks like there might be an extra letter between the "e" and the "y". It's nearly 7" tall, 6" in diameter.

Paperweight: I'm guessing this is supposed to be a tomato. However, the thing that interested me about it was that it's cased amberina glass, which I have never seen before. The inside layer is a swirly orange almost-pearlescent color, and the outside is the familar red-to-orange-to-yellow color people call amberina, which is transparent enough to allow you to see inside. Anyone ever seen anything like it?

The signature is almost indecipherable, so if you'd like to take a guess, please feel free. I tried several variations of Hick... and Nick..., but came up empty.

Thanks Janette! I didn't have any luck on eBay with Hickman, but I'll keep looking around.

Charles Hickman made that. My stepfather.

Neither tomatoes nor apples have as many lobes as the paperweight has, my guess FWIW is a pumpkin.

Thanks so much for the information. I've also run across another piece with that signature since I posted, but the second one was out of my price range at the time.

Any chance his studio is in Southeast Texas? I'm in the Houston area.

That's as good a guess as any. Now that you say that, I looked around for other lobed fruits. It also resembles a persimmon.
