Anyplace I may not have considered to advertise The Big Auction?

Obviously the auction house and I both want to leave no stone unturned in advertising these unique auctions. You just never know when some closet billionaire in a small town somewhere has always dreamed of surrounding his house with cannons, and we want to be sure and reach him or her. Even if you don't have any suggestions, and simply want to assist by distributing the link to your own network, please do so. Thanks!http://www.springfieldarsenal.net/

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of active gun forums out there on the web, I bet some of them would have buyers for you on them. The trick would be figuring out which ones would be most relevant for what you're selling, and how to approach them.

I suggest you contact the producers of The Big Bang" show.

Also the company that makes Four Roses.

Orchestras. Most of them would be thrilled to be able to implement the 1812 Overture properly.

That TV channel that re-runs Dragnet, and Hogan's Heroes. I think they do Cannon - a perfect segue.

Companies which either do, or provide the equipment for, Fourth of July celebrations. (I assume you've covered all the re-enactment opportunities.)

Third world countries who want to liven up their various celebrations they way the big boys do.

    The NRA.

Ever a what-the-devil-will-that-cost? person, I wonder about the "shipping costs" for a cannon to a country high on celebrating the final harvesting of yams.

Dunno. But it wouldn't be small potatoes.

Send me something via email I can print up and hand out at our 1814 re-enactment on Saturday. We have a couple of guys coming with four or five cannons - your kind of people.

    :arghh:

How about the DAR and other historical/hereditary/affinity groups - and the local leagues of cities for cities who need one for the courthouse display.

Just passed it along to the Yarmouth Minutemen to share with their guy who is bringing four or five cannon to our event Aug 15-17. :)

Thx all. You did right thing giving reenactors a cy or even partial cy of this as it contains specific info on the items, which is exactly what they want. They'll skim right over the 10-in. mortar weighing 4200 lbs. but would probably be interested in a small ship's cannon they could drag around and shoot. http://www.springfieldarsenal.net/

We have re-enactors coming from all over New England so if you want to write something up for me to print and hand out, I can do that.

How about architects who specialize in building/restoring period homes (castles), schools, parks, city structures. I wonder if there is some kind of national association. Here is one builder from a quick search on the net. ohttp://www.builtbydalessio.com/

Thx again. I've now spent more dozens of hours than I can count working with the cataloger to make sure he has every bit of info I have, and that the catalog draft is correct in every respect. I think the catalog will be a collector's item in itself, there will be many pix of each item plus images of some important documents for some of the items Several are patent models and I've sent them the patents, some letters and ads I found in the Nat. Archives, etc. I've done about everything I can do, as well as helping load two 53-foot trucks with the hardware.

Now I know all the cannons will be sold on Oct 7, first day of a 3-day auction. Julia's has posted several photos their photogs have taken and they look pretty good, you can see them by scrolling down 1/5 of this page: http://jamesdjulia.com/369_shs/

I don't mind at all having the cannons put in an auction with lots of machineguns because the machinegun collectors tend to like cannons and vice-versa.
