  1. Can anyone help me identify this particular Reed and Barton pattern?

Without a closeup view of that center section of the handle, I wasn't sure. Couldn't even get a good look at it on Replacements. But I just checked several Heritage listings on eBay and that's definitely a match to yours.

  6. Im checking ebay as well and I notice that many of them are listed as Heritage but look somewhat different like this one for instance. Do you happen to know why that is?

That picture is NOT Reed & Barton's Heritage (sterling) pattern. It actually looks like stainless to me - and much more recent production as well.

What's the listing number, if you don't mind?

Okay, I think I've solved the mystery - Reed & barton apparently has a line of stainless flatware using the trade name Heritage Mint. If you notice, those listings also give a pattern name following the Reed & Barton Heritage Mint in the beginning of the title.

When searching ebay for things like old flatware, you need to make sure your search is limited to the Antiques category so you screen out all the stainless junk in the "housewares" categories.

    Always glad to help. :)

Here's another tip - Use the site I linked above for identification when you know the maker (US only, of course.) That's the best place I know of for both sterling and silverplated flatware patterns. Trying to search eBay listing pictures for a pattern name you don't know takes much more time than it needs to. Not to mention that it's also subject to misidentification by the seller or there may not be any listings for the pattern at all.

To me it looks like it says (even if the lettering is upside down in the photo) "Sterling Handle" and maybe with the word "stainless" (and a faint unknown word above it) on the blade near the handle. ;)

Yes, yourturn, that is exactly what it says. Sometimes, the "sterling handle" impression is all there is and it can be hard to know which maker unless you recognize a very popular pattern or have other pieces with flat handles that give the maker's mark. Andrew was right about it being Reed & Barton, but wasn't using the most efficient method to search for the pattern name. (Unless you count coming here at a time when I was online. ;))
