Hi, I saw these nightstands in a FB group, they have been painted so all I have to go on is the shape/size/detail... I fell in love with the style and want ro find a pair of my own! The only thing the lady knows is that her uncle told her they were from the late 1800s and at that point somebody had horribly stained them almost black..:-( Thanks for ANY help! [IMG]

I would call these French provincial and doubt they are anywhere near that old. Size?

Im certainly not knowledgable in this sort of thing, but I do agree that they cant be quite that old.. I cant find the post now :-\ she did say there was an entire set, full sized bed, long lowboy dresser w/mirror, tall dresser and these two nightstands...

I agree with Brad . 1960s French provincial ,probably started life white and gold . That paint treatment is HIDEOUS ! No offense to anyone . :)

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

They DO have a sort of a Tim-Burton-Twilight-Zone-Beetlejuice sort of vibe, don't they?

HA! My thoughts EXACTLY! They are angry little Card Soldiers from Alice in Wonderland! And thats why I want one! (Yes, I agree, hideous paint job...NOT my work!) I recently painted this twisted, crooked little table and named her The Queen of Diamonds, im looking for pieces to go along with the theme.. These nightstands scream card soldier to me :) [IMG]

Love the responses here and love the plan for one. They do look angry ;) .... Those off-kilter panels are an odd feature and it will be terribly difficult to find another with them. Your best bet would be to search French Provincial or French country styles. These really have more of the form of a server than they do a nightstand. This is why I asked for size. I assume if they were part of a set, that they are smaller and true nightstands. You may have to have something made or modified to get the quirky look you are after.

    Hi,
French Provincial is NOT one of my favorite styles. I repainted this bedroom cabinet of my SIL. It was a horrible off white with bright gold and a horrible none
shiny gold finish. I redid it with this "antiquing" finish. I had it in my old kitchen since it fit in a niche like it was built in. I how have it in my family room.
