This is in an auction that ends in the next few days. My gut says fake because the stones are all so uniform in size and color, but the trumpet beads look more real-ish to me. I know little about squash blossom necklaces though, so I thought I'd ask others to weigh in.

Sorry, this is the only photo I have from the auction; there is no back photo.

Ha ha, sorry quirky girl. My fingers were automatically inserting "bottom" even though my brain knows it's "blossom". I even did it in this reply until I realized what I was doing.

That would be a trifle disconcerting, a squash butt necklace....LOL.

So hard to tell from that photo ... even when I enlarged it 400%. The stones don't show any obvious matrix but I'm seeing "lines" in the turquoise that make it look like it's carved ... I'm looking around for other examples of carved turquoise ones. The clasp looks like what I would expect on a "real" one.
Do they mention any signature (or anything) on the back of the piece?

No info on it at all. It's just a bunch of stuff thrown into a lot with no description of any of the items.

Quirkygirl, would you mind taking a look at it if I PM you the auction number?

How much does the seller seem to know about jewelry?

First you would need to define "real".It is a squash blossom necklace, but even with a good photo and no marking listed anyone could have made it(commercial,hobbyist/student).

Zip, zero, zilch. At least from looking at past auctions (which there are very few of).

Sorry, I meant "real" as in not a 1970's cheap repro with plastic stones and non-silver metal beads.

I'm not expecting to be able to pinpoint the maker based on one photo and no other info....I just wanted opinions on wheter it is some junky 70's or 80's repro.

Edited to add: the auction is at a low enough point right now that it would have been worth it just for the silver content alone if the beads were silver even if I couldn't find the maker or if it was a lesser known maker.

I'm revising my initial opinion ... having access to clearer photos ... I'd say costume piece (but, as Hollyblue states ... still a squash blossom necklace) with glued in faux turquoise "stones"

I concur. Costume. The real ones don't look anything like that, except for the shape. It might be a Bell Trading Post piece though - nice, but not real Navajo.
