Hello! My daughter found this porcelain (I think) pig figurine at a thrift store last weekend. I’m just curious on its background but don’t know anything about reading maker’s marks.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I always like learning something new!

The impressed number is most likely a shape mark. I can't make heads nor tails out of the other marks. I can say that most of these cute little pig trinkets were made in Germany.

I can see Depose in all caps across the middle.

Would that make it a French piece?

I think German from the mark and the impressed numbers. They exported to Britain and the rest of the European continent, so Depose may be for the French market as Depornit is usual on German items. Just speculating.

Interesting! I looked up the Sitzendorf mark and it does seem like weak knockoff of it! Ha ha! We just bought it for the cute piggie.

Thanks for the insight. Identifying antiques/collectibles is like learning a new language!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Welcome to Antiquers, @LilDi !

What is the height of this? I've used small planters to hold pencils and pens sometimes. The design of this one could work for that, if it's the right size.
