Austria-Hungary Silver

Hello all my silver guru pals!

Just need some confirmation on this item and an opinion on what it might be! Thanks!

I believe it is Austria-Hungary and probably 800 silver some marks are very hard to make out. Do you think it had a glass insert? It is 3 1/4" tall, top diameter is 4". The construction is just outstanding! thanks for your help! lots of pics!

The 13 under the arch, below the A, stands for 13 loth. The decimal equivalent is on the page.

what do you think it might have been used for?

 

Sugar bowl, I'd say.The date numerals are around the loth mark, looks like 188?. Maybe looking at it live would make it clearer. Breathing on cold silver sometimes helps to make marks a bit clearer.

Looks ok for silver of the period.

 

Sugar bowl would certainly have needed an insert, but at the size, I have no other ideas for use.

 

I do think the date is more like 183X.
