It came with a COA with an appraised value of $1200. Does anybody here know about these things. Is it really worth that much?
I only ask because I have no interest in it and I would like to sell it, so I’m just trying to get an idea of its value. All comments are appreciated.
    Thank you!

Would certainly do additional research on this if you don't get more responses here on Antiquers. Hard for us to confirm signatures, etc. If you go into Ebay and search "Star Wars Signed", then sort of highest to lowest under SOLD, there are definitely some signed (different) pieces going for very good $$. You will want to research this.

Just general observations here, I don't know anything about "Authentic Memorabilia Appraisals" -- whether they are held in high regard, etc. If yes, you might consider listing on Ebay as AN AUCTION, opening bid with the amount in the estimate, etc.

    Very cool piece!

The "Authentic Appraisals" website won't open (invalid security certificate) on any of three different browsers we tried, which suggests that they're either no longer in "business" or just one of countless scam sites purporting to "authenticate" memorabilia. In any event, no -- no knowledgeable collector would trust that COA, which was probably just concocted on John or Jane Doe's home computer/printer to enhance the sale.

We personally wouldn't trust any autograph we hadn't obtained in person, but in the world of autograph collecting, it seems COA's from only Richard Simon Sports, James Spence, and PSA/DNA have any weight at all in the marketplace, despite the documented errors by even the latter two of those certification services.

We hope all four of your sigs are indeed authentic, but you'd need a respected COA on them to maximize your profit on a sale.

Where can I get a respected COA. And how much would this be worth if it is indeed authentic?

Well, you would start by contacting one or more of the services we just mentioned, all of which can be found easily on the internet. They may also offer an appraisal of market value. Sorry, we can't make a guess as to how much it might be worth at sale or auction.

If you're highly confident it would be certified authentic, that would probably make its potential market value high enough that one of the better sports-and-pop-culture auction houses would accept it on consignment and handle the authentication for you before putting it up for bids.

I am not familiar with this company, could be great or could be a scam. However, I had no trouble opening the site, my browser is Firefox. So it appears to be still up and running. Be sure to put a dash between the words as listed.

A healthy dose of skepticism always good with this kind of thing, though.

I wonder if they keep records of the appraisals they've done, Mart, maybe you could confirm that they did this one? If yes, then the question would be if they are recognized in the autograph community as someone to be trusted to give a COA.

As far as value on your piece, with a quick search I could not find similar, so it would just be what the market bears. Have to say that Star Wars stuff is pretty hot, best of luck!

Also, re-reading the appraisal, did the appraisal come with said, "letter"? It says "without the letter the appraisal is invalid."

Baseballgames has a good suggestion that a pop-culture auction house might take it on consignment and take care of the authentication as part of it.

Thanks Lucille, but as we suggested, "authentic-appraisals," as far as we know, is not recognized at all in the autograph collecting community. The COA really does look like something composed on the original seller's computer, and it's typically fishy that the company has no physical address displayed on the letter. And of course, if the sigs are deemed "likely not authentic" by one of the more respected authentication services we mentioned, no reputable auction house would consider putting that magazine up for bids.
By the way, Firefox was one of the browsers we tried which, for us anyway, barred entry to the website for its having an expired or non-existent security cert.

We're not saying the sigs are fake. Or authentic. Couldn't give an opinion either way. All we're saying is the current COA adds no value, and in fact would probably hold down market value. Collectors would think "if the autographs are in fact authentic, why wouldn't the seller have had them authenticated by one of the reputable services instead of by some unknown entity of dubious expertise and dubious integrity?"

Site opens ok for me, but from the way it looks, I wouldn't trust anything coming from there. Unless I missed something. It's a total mess and beyond unprofessional. Unreadable in fact. Screenshot_20191111-130258__01.jpg
