    Hi there I'm Alan I'm 25 and from Northern Ireland, I love antiques and have been collecting coins from I was 8 and love British and Irish hammered and milled coins. Also a sucker for anything metal and pretty! So nice to meet you all and hope to be of help and have fun.

    Nice mate! Always wanted a WWI Iron Cross but looks like a minefield for the novice collector. As for coins you got anything special or what type is you favorite?

    You could try Coin Talk, an associated board, but most of the colletors are Americans, and by British standards, clinically insane.

    There are a lot of knowlegable posters about ancient coins, and some experts on world coins and medieaval, but most are so far into details of US coims, notably the most trivial errors and imperceptable shades of grading, which they are so hopeless at they have to pay someone to do it for them.....well you will see and there are some interesting topics sometimes.

    Haha it sound alike a farse but I will give it a go, thanks for the heads up! Varieties are my speciality but I like to stick to my British coins, American coins just aren't my cup of tea. If you can't grade a coin I'm not sure you should be collecting haha but this they are willing to pay I might just make it my job to grade haha.

    I don`t collect hammered or Roman / ancients, or modern.
    Just about anything else though from 1601 onwards worldwide, since 1961 when I was a kid.
    I have too many coins and medals to talk about here, they are all photographed so maybe I shall make a collage and display them one day.

    Sorry I'm only getting back now, I had a History assignment to do, but these are some serious nice pieces! And good photos too, I don't know much about medals but those coins are fantastic quality.

    CoinTalk is a great specialized forum for coin collectors. Lots of knowledge on almost every facet of the hobby and in more detail than we can get into here. I'm a member there as well. The administrator that runs this site, runs that one too.

    We love pictures so post some pics of your coins.
