    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

It was from life (except for the background, which was the fantasy Mexico background they wanted. The guy looks like a Mexican Les Gold, the TV pawnbroker. The lady made exactly that face and I had to paint it! She must have meant to be looking serious or proud or who knows what. When they saw my initial sketches she burst into a big smile. So it's what they wanted and what they got. The background was a picture they gave me of a spot from their past. Thanks, Milt!

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Little update.
Never throw away paintings you hate. Put 'em in the attic. They may be just what you want later.

    Hi Gila,
I used to do embroidery on the plane when I traveled. I have astigmatism so I was unable to read. So I started the sewing, I could see up close and not be bothered and it did pass the time. On one trip I had a five hour conversation with a women who sat bent over hugging her knees covered with a blanket. At first I thought she was someone famous and did not want to be recognized. Half way to Denmark she confessed of being terrorized of flying and flew bent over and covered with a blanket. It was so strange talking to this blanket shrouded person that I forgot to do any sewing. Forgot to answer your question. When I retired I tried to keep my fingers nimble and my mind sharp. Rolling those little strips of paper around needles did the trick. I kept 5 or 6, the other 15 or so I gave for gifts. I was refinishing furniture and needed something to occupy my mind being all whoosey from those chemicals

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I find this fascinating. Men are so interesting. PEOPLE are so interesting.
    Okay, butttttttttttt...
How did you even KNOW about quillery? And why did you suddenly decide to start up?
For me, intricate, methodical, precise work like that would be like doing arithmetic. YET... I love looking at the stuff.
I think you should do some more and raffle it off here! And I'm in.

    Hi Gila,
I was at the library and they were having a book sale. You know every so often they sell books that they have that get old and no longer in demand. There was a small book on quillery for 25 cents. I bought it and tried it for a couple of months.
