Calling on all you experts for any help for identifying the maker of my art pottery vase which appears to be dated 1972. The mark is easy to read but I don't know what I'm looking at...do any of you? Height is about 7". Well-potted, thin walls. Painted mark. Looks like a pretty accomplished piece. Hoping somebody knows. Thanks in advance.

When you say the mark is easy to read, are you seeing Jamey S?
Can't help with the style or type of pottery. Not my area of expertise.

Sorry I don't know who it is either. That first initial I was also thinking looked like a J so I was wondering if also could say Janey S. or Jairey S. But now I'm not so sure that is a J, it's got two tails:confused:.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I think I see more like a fancy loopy 'S'.....then 'oirey' but can't explain the extra 'tail' ......can't help with the nice pottery though, sorry!

Studio pottery can be by any studio. There are a dozen of them within 25 miles of me right now. Extrapolate that by the size of the world and it's daunting. If I gave you the names of ten potters who work in each studio around here, you wouldn't know any of them. Heck, I've taken classes at Castle Hill in Truro, but my work isn't famous. I think sometimes people don't realize that many, many studio potters and Sunday painters are extremely talented.
