Those horses don't look like applique, they look more like trapunto.

Sharonna, your ship has come in! Actually, I saw one similar in an antique store, and when I went back for it, it was gone. It will do well.

Hi All, Looks like you are all finding some neat pieces!
Moon that Japanese vessel is lovely!
    MMSharona that bell looks interesting!
Love that piece that you really wanted Marko, the colour is gorgeous!
I picked up a couple of snuff boxes, W. Germany tray & coaster with a wire fox terrier,
a couple of brooches that I think are old, and this Hindu deity, Ganesha - not sure what it is made of. I thought spelter but when I scratched inside it looks like bronze, magnet doesn't stick to it.

I don't normally do much jewelry

I recognized this trifari piece right away though

This Norwegian piece just looked to funky to pass

Turns out it was made for D-A

It was very busy at the flea market - dealers and shoppers. I overslept and still found deals after arriving behind hundreds of other people.

    $1.00 for a sterling bowl

Had to step up to $10 for a sterling charm bracelet
    0803 flea 002.jpg
$5 for the Trifari and $10 for the Tangerud

My community yard sale was rained out this weekend, but an amazing thing happened. I did go to see if anyone was having sales on their porches or in their garages or under tents. I was driving past an elderly man putting furniture out, and I yelled from the car "Got any jewelry?" He responded that he did, he had his wife's jewelry box and was willing to sell the jewelry. He sent his son upstairs to get it, and it was taking forever. I was thinking "Should I wait or move on?" I waited and it turned out the son was dragging out a three-foot tall armoire with side opening doors and a top opening in addition to all the front drawers. OMGoodness, I had a lot of fun. I will post pics soon. Afterwards, I stopped at a garage sale, and while the jewelry was picked over, I got some great vintage pieces- my favorite find of the day was there. I never know where to go first when these things are happening, but it worked out okay this time.

I like the Ganesha figure of Cxgirl's and Terry's David Andersen necklace -- funky or "brutalist?"

Johnnycb, don't you worry about a dry spell. When you least expect it you'll (almost literally) fall into a treasure trove of great items at reasonable prices. All of the items you have ever shared on-line have been very interesting.

The black snuffbox is of course a routine mid 19th C papier mache example but the other box I'd like a closer look at.

Marko....Ocean Gate? Egg Harbor? They both had community sales this weekend. I was tempted to head to Ocean Gate but the weather put the kibosh on that trip.

    10k Garnet Pearl (360x480).jpg
It is STILL raining here, three days in a row now, and I take pics outside in the shade. I did manage to get a shot of my favorite piece left over at the garage sale. I can't believe somebody left this there.

This was a dollar. I thought it was rose gold-filled and the center stone might be glass. I tested the stone, it is a garnet. When I examined the pendant part, it looked finer than gold-filled, so I tested it. The pendant and findings on the chain test as 10k gold.

Rose gold is my favorite jewelry metal. I am definitely keeping and will be wearing this because garnet is my dad's birthstone, and my brother, two sisters, and myself were all born in June, so the four pearls signify us. I think Daddy saved this for me to find.

I went to EHC. I used to live in Egg Harbor City for 22 years. Mostly everything was rained out, but I looked for porches and garages. I don't know if Egg Harbor will have the sale next weekend. It also said in the paper that you could get maps from local businesses to tell you where the sales were. No local businesses had them, so I just drove around. Wish I had found that garage first, but then I wouldn't have been first for the full armoire. Can't get everything!

Skeeziks, where is Ocean Gate? You just live not far from Terry and me! Great counties for pickin'.
