These are the panels I got at the estate sale. I want to list them but realized there are 3 shades of pink, 3 shades of gray and a blue. I think people are pretty particular about what colors they search by and which colors they purchase on something like this. Can you help?

Book, someone once told me that the best way to describe a color well enough for others to be able to picture it is to buy a big box of Crayola crayons & find the one that matches best.

For selling purposes, include the crayons in your photos, with the color names visible.

Gila - I like burgendy and fuschia, I'm not sure about mauve or hot pink. Teal sounds good.

SBSVC -what a great idea - I'll do it!

While we're at it, what the heck would you call the shapes? Abstract waves with scrolls? Plumes?

I just got back from shopping - no big boxes of Crayolas.
But I think I've gotten enough help here to put together a listing.
Tiger stripes and plumes - it has a nice ring to it! :) i don't know if I'll have the nerve to use it though.

Waves works for me - it looks sort of like a Hiroshige wave wood block print. The colors I'm seeing on the monitor are cherry red, fuschia, cherry blossom pink, and teal blue. The alternative to crayolas is getting hold of a PanTone color pack and listing with those numbers. They aren't cheap, but if you're listing a lot of vintage fabrics it might be worth it.

Book...the best way to describe color.....on eBlech at least......is NOT to describe color !!

Even today...my computer, tablet , or phone screen is not going to show the exact same hues as everyone else's...& from the numerous buyer bitching I've read of over the years.....(eg. You said aqua, but I received teal !!! ) the most I'd say here , would be " shades of red & grey" !!

Ah, Komo - that's why you put the crayons in the photo with the color names showing.

That way, any disagreement about what color something really is can be referred back to Crayola - as in: "Get yourself a box of crayons & compare!"

(Or, similarly, as Evelyb suggested, do the same with PanTone.)

Well, you have a point......but when the buyer gets the cloth ...and not the box of crayons with it.....then the bitching begins anew !!!:smuggrin::smuggrin:

OMG komokwa - I didn't think of that. Darn - off to change the listing.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

http://www.pantone-colours.com/ is a link to a page showing the pantone colours.......could be downloaded.....has #s on each color.....probably a bit labor-intensive, but if using a graphics editing program, could copy and paste appropriate
block near enlargement of matching color on pattern????? Just a thought........but yes, crayons would be quicker and easier!:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

    Agreed!
I once sold a pair of vintage 40s barkcloth pillows and, even though my description called the colors "muted", the buyer complained that they weren't as vibrant as they had looked on her computer screen.

    OP, those panels are gorgeous!

My mother had a similar pair. They are in fabric bins in my attic. Now I'm wanting to take them out and use them. Everything old is new again.

I have these curtains. I think they're bark cloth. The edge says Guaranteed to be Vat Prints, whatever that means 2016-02-13 14.11.03 (800x600).jpg 2016-02-13 14.11.23 (800x600).jpg
