Featured Repair questions for 18K gold pearl ring

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to determine if this ring can be repaired by a jeweler. The back of the band is cut all the way through. I have no idea why it is cut like this. The ring belonged to my mother and I was thinking she may have planned on having the ring resized? I don’t know if that would make sense. Could this cut be repaired with solder if the gems were protected? The ring is also missing one of its diamonds (to the right of the center of the pearl). It seems like it might be difficult for a jeweler to get the matching size stone and replace it, but I have never had to deal with repairs so I’m not sure. Also, any thoughts on what kind of pearl this may be? I was thinking it may be a saltwater pearl because of its size, shape, and luster.

It's a mabe pearl"assembled",if the size is right for the ring to fit... it just needs to be laser welded.There would be no damage to the stone.

The pearl may be a Mabe Pearl

 

a rather large mabe pearl..........
if it fits and doesn't pinch your skin.....leave it alone..
