I hope someone will be able to help me ID this dresser set which was given to me from the estate of an European lady who was born in 1912. It could possibly have belonged to her mother (who lived to be 102).

    Very pretty dresser set!!

The glass is most likely Bohemian or Czechoslovakian. I doubt you will ever be able to pin point a maker unless you luck upon a catalog showing this set or another set that might retain an original sticker of some sorts.

The hardware of the atomizer looks like a Marcel Franck which was a French company. It would not have been unusual for them to purchase Bohemian made bottles that would have been fitted with their hardware.

Someone who may be able to give you a second opinion would be Helen Farnsworth. You can contact her through the IPBA (International Perfume Bottle Association) at this website. http://www.perfumebottles.org/ Click on the "contact us" option & she is listed under volunteers.

Let us know what Helen has to say about the set.

As the saying goes, "oooh pretty". My WAG would be late 40s Czech, but beyond that... no clue.

Lovely thing, that. I'd agree on Bohemian, although I think it's between the wars. That silver overlay is in superb condition.

I forgot the metal draw tube on the atomizer. This might be early 1910's or maybe even earlier. By the 1930's they have mostly switched to glass tubes & by the 1940's most of what you saw was plastic tubes.

This is definitely a European style so it may have been different from the US made atomizers, which is what I am most familiar with.

Thank you! I suspect, then, the owner may have been the mother (who lived in Cannes, France) of the woman from whose estate the dresser set came. I have messaged the individual (Helen), whom you recommended at IPBA, but have not, as yet, had a reply.

Thank you, everyone, for your assistance. I have heard back from Helen, who advises:

"I have looked at the photos and see the comments and all I can add is that the metal draw tube on the inside of the atomizer appears to be quite early-they started using glass tubes about 1935 or so. Yet the style is rather deco in appearance, so this makes the set about 1925 .

A very pretty dresser set, but very hard to pinpoint its origin."

    Cheers, Lesley
