    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Zack? Arman? German? Oer-something?

I can see a Judaica vibe, yes...

Figure is brass, vessel is... brass? glass?

    Intriguing.

    Hi,
Strange piece, reminds me of Robert E. Lee the Confederate general.

My first thought was a Hasidic Jewish man, but on 2nd look, no not Hasidic Jewish.
    1. He doesn't have the hair style with Payot or whatever those twisted sideburns are called.
    2. The hat has a wide flat brim but not a shtreimel - fur hat Hasidic Jews wear - or a black wide brim fedoras they wear also.
    3. Doesn't appear to be wearing a tallit fringe garment under his vest.
    4. He seems too richly dressed with that vest, shoes, hat to be the Tevye character from Fiddler on the Roof.

As he is all done in gold tone and holding a gold/yellow glass whatever, I thought he might be a miner who just discovered gold, but he is too well dressed to be a miner. Honestly, I don't have a clue who he represents.

Hi & thank you for your input....I purchased it at a thrift store in Chicago, that represents a jewish charity orginazation...That is why I thought it was judaica.

I believe it was originally attached to something & I have to put my finger on the base to keep it from tipping over. IMG_2112.JPG IMG_2115.JPG

The signature looks to me like it could be Jack or Zack, and possibly Brown for the last name.

I think it's kind of cool...

What do you think the glass part is for - a candle?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Maybe, Messi... like for a votive?
I'm thinking now about the idea that it was mounted on something... I'm picturing it at various heights and on various things... newel post? mantel? entry area table?

The glass looks kind of big to me for a votive. I'm thinking a vase?

Maybe it had felt glued on the bottom and someone removed it to look for marks. I had candle holders back in the 70s with cherubs and things made of metal with the glass votive holder on top similar to this, but the shape of the glass looks more like a wine glass on this one. A drunk holding up a wine glass????

Make your finger follow the lines on the last name and maybe muscle memory will help with the letters. It looks like a G

    Me think's glass not original.

  19. Figtree3

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

So it might have once had him holding up something a little smaller that would not unbalance it? That would make sense.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Could be! The glass really isn't proportional-looking. So somebody super-glued it???
