Um...true, I suppose. In England, tea making Can be a process.

I pass along a funny, but somewhat pathetic, anecdote about my father. In our house, coffee got one up in the morning and put one to be at night. (Interrupted only for the hurricane of whenever it was)

So one morning, I came down to the breakfast table, and there was my father, standing by the table with a steaming kettle in his hand. Seemed to be frozen in place. I inquired as to the problem. He pushed toward me a jar of Nescafe, a saccharine tablet, and a container of what he always called, "Cremate."

    "This," he said, "Is pathetic."

    Cremate -- I love it!

AF -- one can make/drink tea whilst reading -- done it thousands of times personally with only a few drops spilt! :beaver:

So I got this Hungarian silver cup listed and relisted and no lookers. Seems that adding the word 'julep' makes them sell. Real high sell through rate for anything with silver and julep in the title. Even the cheap Indian white brass garbage I've been seeing a ton of at the thrift stores.

If it's that old, why is Israel engraved in English instead of Hebrew? :watching:

The boats and camels look more Egyptian to me than Persian. BWDIK.

Typical 20th century Iranian motif. I have some spoons and a pair of napkin rings with the same - If I have them engraved, will I get more? hahaha

I'll take your word for it, Sue. :)

For that price (and no marks shown) they better have ironclad provenance.

    the cup sure isn't.

I thought it looked like Egyptian touristware at first sight of the dhows and camels. It's about $6300 overpriced. Where do they get these ideas of pricing?

"This is a magnificent 1900's Persian judaical 84 proof silver bowl with a handle from estate of Israel family, one of the oldest Jewish families in Iran which moved to Israel in early 1900's. "

I'm still trying to figure out how they can tell that the handle is from the estate of Israel family?:cat: I think they needed a comma somewhere.:angelic:

Isn't it great that there are so many idiots around, when they give so much pleasure?

But I can't help feeling a bit guilty being amused, considering I've done some pretty stupid things and made some real bloopers. Not to spoil the fun, but just saying.........
And I don't feel guilty enough to stop laughing.
