Hi folks, I found this pin with a raised sterling mark on the back. I'd like to believe the mark, but it just looks so rough and dark. I also can't tell if it is old (at least vintage) or not. It does shine up with silver cream, but not as shiny as I was expecting. I like the design a lot (it is missing at least 3 rhinestones though). Any ideas on maker or age? It appears to be cast to me; what do you think? Sellable or scrap? Any other thoughts? Thanks for for looking! IMG_1433.JPG IMG_1426.JPG

It's hard to imagine that sterling could flow into all the small channels of the mold. It has the appearance of tin. A tin mix would scratch easily.

Definitely Sterling, cast in sections and riveted together. Nice piece.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Too bad about the missing rhinestones... may make it harder to sell. You didn't mention the size, but I think you might want to sell it with a repair lot or something like that. Replacements for the rhinestones should be findable, but it might not be worth your while to find and replace them yourself. I don't think this item would be worth a lot, even if complete. I like the design, though!
