Badly Damaged Wooden Painted Crucifix

    Hi, is it possible to give any info on this crucifix, it is badly damaged but still quite beautiful, I was told it is Italian but have no idea of date? Many thanks.

    It is beautiful MrD. I can't help you with the date, but I would agree it is Italian.
    I think the saint is st Catherine of Siena, an Italian mystic and patron saint of Italy, along with st Francis. She belonged to the 3rd order (lay order) of st Dominic, which is why she is portrayed as a Dominican nun.
