    Possible, ady1. The shield made me think otherwise, but then there's the palm tree about it.

    I don't think it would even be deep enough for that.
    I do know that, if it is indeed that teeny, I covet it!

    It's just something I picked up from a booty a few years ago .We just had a bit of a clear out .an early spring clean .

    My needle sharpener is the size of a nice strawberry without the chocolate dip.

    Now that you mention strawberry I'm remembering a fabric strawberry that my grandmother used for cleaning and sharpening needles. Filled with sand I would imagine.

    If this thing is really about 1/2 inch across, then it is even shorter than that.
    Even if it was the base for a emery, it would have trouble standing upright, even with the nifty little feet..

    I think its just a little dish for whatever,maybe fish bones !

    Indian Colonial silver, absolutely typical. I think it's a salt, but the gilding has vanished. Dear little thing.

    No, King. She is correct. Gilding (if it's intact) is also a good barrier between silver and salt. I think she's spot in as to origin too.
