on the first day of christmas, my true love gave to meee~
    well, maybe not, but hey~
i know wallplates are not excactely the great hit at the moment, but these were dead cheap so i figured i would give it a shot and maybe try them on ebay later on for a few buck a piece :) as they just so happen to be from decent makers,
there are 2 royal copenhagen mothers day plates, a royal copenhagen fajance christmas commemoration of the warship Thor, a royal copenhagen plate with Aarhus cathedral, a royal copenhagen historical commemorational plate for the 'gunpowder tower', 3 bing and groendahl mothersday plates, and 4 villeroy and boch plates.

It depends on where you are as to when mother's day is. In the US it's in May, in the UK it's different and this year in March I think. I have a dear friend from Scotland who was living here in the states. When one of her kids back home forgot to send her a card on UK mothering day they would send one on the US mother's day. Two chances to remember.

I see you're in Denmark, no idea about when your mother's/mothering day might be but it explains a lot about finding your plates.:)

yeah these plates are typical denmark :) well maybe not the villeroy and boch, but still not that uncommon here :)
i think i will market it for the US mothers day, most of my ebay sales, even purely danish stuff, goes to the US :D

While there may be a 'ringer' in your group...a thrift near me routinely puts these on the 50cent table...often with their box.

We've sold a number of Christmas plates in the past, using fixed price listings, usually £4.99 + P&P. But they often do not sell, and when they do it often isn't at Christmas!

were that the royal copenhagen plates? because royal copenhagen christmas plates are infamous for being worthless right now xD but i hope its different for the other plates :) they are vintage, and i just couldn't help myself xD i know its junk compared to so many other things, but if anything else fails ill pack them away for when i can finally have my own fleamarket stand again~

Yes, we've sold Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl plates, but they are slow sellers and we often have to relist several times. Wedgwood Jasperware christmas plates are slightly better sellers but at similar price band.

Tbh, we never target these plates, or any collectors plates unless we know that the specific plates are marketable. But they often come as part of a mixed lot and so we often list them to see if they sell.

any body want some Wolf plates? Date to the 1990s made for collectors craze. Tried to give them to a local Wolf rescue center about 10 years ago. They said no thank you and do not dump them at the gate.

I sell collector plates in my B&M anywhere from 12.95 - 60.00 depending on the theme and maker.
Birds for some reason do not sell.

    Hi,
Last Oct my favorite resale shop had over 200 "collectable" plates for 1 dollar each. I bought five Wedgwood plates and two Royal Copenhagen plates. In Nov there was still 180 left. The store packed them up again until Feb. I think I have a box of wooden frames for them in the garage. I remember selling them last year and the girl who bought them, returned them unopened.

We called our local women's shelter and they were happy to accept these type of plates provided we didn't mind that they were going to use them to eat from. We said they should enjoy them. We ended up with a bunch of Franklin mint type plates and could not bring ourselves to just throw them away. The homeless shelter didn't want them, but the domestic violence shelter tries to provide a nicer atmosphere. We also had a set of dishes they accepted.

My sister asked me for help with some old serving pieces. They dated to the early 1930s, but they were American pottery. I told her to tell the friend who owned them to donate them somewhere. That kind of pottery is dead here. You can't sell it, but someone can use it. Those decorator plates may not be food safe; they're often marked to indicate they aren't for food use.

The plates we have are marked do not use for food. Wall hanging or skeet are the only uses.

If they're 80s or later, I vote for skeet.

i just tryed to look up the dating on the villeroy and boch, im a bit confused because the mark looks very much like the one used between 1874 and 1909 but im a bit skeptical :s

I get people wanting to sell their parents' collection of decorative plates a few times a year. I tell them that unfortunately most have very little value, especially any that were sold as collectables. I tell them they should donate them to a local thrift and take a small tax deduction.

This one is going to make at least $9.99 and is 4-1/3 days out yet.
And it has a scratch and it was.......50cents so... :)

I'd have bought that one too, but then my late dad was a rail nut and I have a good friend who's also a big rail nut. That might even wind up back in Japan; they have hard core railfans over there too.
