Thank you for taking a look at this interesting art pottery vase. It's 8" high with a soft vellum matte finish. The stamped mark is quite faint and difficult to decipher - perhaps a C and WYN. Any help with identification would be most appreciated.

Hiya and glad you found this place!

I got nothing really, my brain went "oh something about that looks familiar" and then nothing. So here's what I got. Something ending in WYN reminds me of something Welsh, Cledwyn...something like that?

Anyway, I was going to offer what I'd do though I'm actually thinking you've already tried. Taking photos with it held in a million different lightings, close ups and scans, from all different slight angles etc. If you're not afraid it might fade the stamp further, I might moisten the base to see if the change in body color might bring out more of the stamp and then watch it as it dries to see if at any time it becomes clearer.

Sorry it's all I got.....I'm pretty sure I've looked at millions of photos and pieces of pottery over the years so I think I'm like a deer in the headlights sometimes.

Hey, kiwi, lovely to see you!

This is spongeware, so might be Scottish. I can't make out the blasted stamp either.

    Hello Kiwi,
Does wetting the bottom make the stamp any more visible???

Wow, thanks all! Just like old times. Mystery has been solved! You were correct about Welsh and Spongeware. It's from Conway Pottery made by Carol Wynne Morris, which fits the stamp. I always love to learn about a pottery that I didn't know about. That's what keeps this fun and interesting! Thank you again.
