I picked this up Friday night at the auction. It is 7 5/8" to the top of flower finial on the lid, 6 1/8" to the side edge & is approximately 8" from the spout to the handle. I have more pieces, but they are still packed up out in the garage. I did some looking around on gotheborg & on the Kutani website I believe this is a Kutani piece, but I wanted to verify that as well as see if anyone could help me with KW's & age as well as help in deciphering/orientation of the mark.

Nice. Yes, I think kutani as I see the character for "9" in the mark -- you have it correctly oriented, but I dunno what the rest of it translates to. Did you check Gotheborg for the mark? Nice -- I love the flower knopf. Date? I dunno -- I'm hazarding a guess at first third of 20th c.?

I'll hazard a guess as to Post WWI and Pre WWII

Hold the cups up to light and check for lithopanes.

I love the flower handle also. In fact the decoration on the whole piece is very well done.

I did check on gotheborg & found a few that were close but I was going cross eyed trying to read the different calligraphy marks.

I did check for lithopanes & there are none on the cups.

The one thing I did notice is that even the teapot is a very thin porcelain. It is not as thin as the cups but you can see the design from the inside. It just amazes me that it made it out of the kiln not to mention that it remain unscathed all these years. :jawdrop:

The same estate had a partial set of this china. I was going to bid on it until he said the opening bid was $300.00.:eek:
