I like them Armando, especially the first one. I have only done one really abstract painting in my life (so far), but it was a lot of fun to do!

I like the first of the Riopelle too, Kom, thanks! :)

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thanks, Armando! That satisfied my need for COLOR for the day, and then some.
Okay, next installment in "Gila Meets World" via eBay. A person wanted a custom painting on eBay to represent her daughter's birth in 2014, the Year of the Green Wooden Horse. They liked my street art/graffiti style portraits, but they wanted a HORSE portrayed 20150312_202104_resized_1 (1).jpg , with various representations of aspects associated. So the horse was easy. I found out how to write the year in Chinese (at least I hope so. It could say Death to America, for all I really know). The bottom miniatures represent aspects of the sign... eco-consciousness, motherliness, and rebellious/temperamental.
That's a hole in the horse's eye, so you can look through it from the back and "BE the horse". They liked it!
    What next?
A portrait of somebody's kangaroo in Australia? A camel from Egypt? A penguin from... wherever penguins live?

Thank you moreotherstuff. I agree with you to a point. The first two were not accidental. A purpose can be found in every piece created, from beginners to Picasso. The last piece, is by far the most liked piece from professional artist, world wide. The way I paint, as I have learned, is what I see when I'm "dazed in deep thought" With my vision coming back into focus, the image begins to reappear in layers. So the slathering of paint isn't just throwing it out there but my interpretation of what I'm seeing as my vision returns to normal. My style isn't for everyone and that's understandable and fine.

Thank you Antidiem. I love abstracts! They make me think, even if I see the title, if it has one. It just feels right for me. I've had a lot of artist tell me that they are intrigued in my work and find it odd that I started right off with abstracts and not landscapes etc. To me, painting landscapes etc, was like trying to wear a right shoe on my left foot, not happening lol. Thank you though!

It's nice. I couldn't paint an animal to save my life. Penguins, from the zoo. Lol

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Thanks, Armando...
So... to compare them all... your first three are abstract, my horse above impressionist, and... your last... an abstract if it's just shape/mood/color, OR an impression if it's landscape??????

Wow, you just blew my mind. I'm trying to decipher what you wrote. I tend to get lost in the sauce. Lol

I think I got you though. The last I call a landscape and the first three abstract. Anyone can see that a typical landscape doesn't normally look this way. To me though, I see it that way, maybe not physically, but within. I let the colors, shapes and my mood determine what will conspire, abstract or not. If I painted landscapes, they all would be that way, somewhat uniformed. I do have an abstract landscape and it's totally different. I hope I answered your question. If not, I'm sorry.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I have heard on this Forum that an abstract has no resemblance to the real image, while an impressionist does include the general somewhat recognizable thing but just very altered in presentation. So I would call your last one impressionist because it does look like an abstract but not a realistic one. Same for my horse... representational but not realistic?
I'm gonna go rest my brain!

image.jpg This is what I call an abstract Tree Study. My abstract landscapes would tend to look like this and a combination of my 3rd abstract I posted earlier A Summer Swim.

I like how the Chinese lettering looks Gila, and how did you build the paint up so fluidly on the horse's nose and mane, etc? It looks to be straight paint? Is that acrylic?

Really love the purple and yellow one, Armando. I definitely get that you have intent and purpose in your abstract paintings.

Thank y'all for showing me! ::hearts::

Antidiem... yep, all acrylic. I just slap it on there and wait a couple of days for it to dry! Thank youuuuu!
Armando, my favorite of yours is the tree. Funny thing... you say you can't paint realistic stuff... I honestly wouldn't know where to start in order to do an abstract!
