I received four of these rooster glasses in the early 70's. The rooster's eyes follow you. Are they roly polys? Are they from the 60's? Any info. would help in my curiousity. Thanks :) phpYys13XAM.jpg phprChjxVAM.jpg phpjn0QsTAM.jpg

OK, I answered my one question, they are roly polys but I can't find them in the rooster? Are they worth much?

    Hi Shilo,
Perhaps they were painted by a crafts person. I see lots of decorated glasses at craft shows when I am dragged there kicking and screaming. Usually by friends who need my handicap plaque.

OK...That eye IS weird. It even "follows" in the photos. Is the "pupil" set in a little cut notch or something?

Perhaps the pupil of the eye is inside....

Its enameled on the outside and an enameled pupil on the inside. It does follow you everywhere,LOL

Thanks tall cakes, I searched replacements too, also eBay. I love them but have been curious about them for years. Like a painting that follows you all over the room. EEK!

That is creepy/funny/weird, that eye. I don't understand how it does that?:happy:
I like the glasses though, they are cute.

If the rooster is on the outside, and the eye is on the inside, there is glass between them, and that makes the eye look sort of 3D. Hence the effect of following you.

Also, if that is the way it was enameled, I would have doubts about it being some home painted piece.
Just my thoughts on it. :)

I have done portraits on canvas where the eyes will follow .;) I make the eyes look at me in the painting then they seem to follow you?:p
