4 Pewter Plates

Marked on the rims. Any help with the origin/maker and age?

That mark seems to belong to a Danish pewterer, seems to be a good amount of material around with the mark so it shouldn't be hard to get info

There are plenty of 'teapot, crown, AH' marked pieces but no info on the maker.

 

i believe these marks are a sort of assay mark for pewter, as in guaranteeing the quality and amoubt of tin, maybe guaranteeing the absence of lead?. Im from Denmark and have seen these alot, but havent thought too much about them as they are not on the old pewter which is more interesing. my guess is late 19th century to early 20th. if it gets older there are usually more elaborate and interesting stamped marks on the european pewter. but yes, i believe the marks are danish, or at least german.

 

I haven't had any luck on IDing these pewter touchmarks. I believe it is fairly recent marks for I don't see any of the old country quality marks or city marks. The present of the crown and teapot touchmarks with the conjoined AH seem to scream British, but for some reason doubt it? I search the pages I saved from Pat's wonderful Pewter Tankards & Flagons (http://pewtertankardsflagons.com) pewter website with no luck. His site was probably best pewter marks site online bar none. After he died, I saved the pages from his site. I also thumbed through some of the pewter marks reference books I have:

You might try the following European pewter marks website. The marks on this website tend to be of relatively recent origin. I did look at the British marks. I really know nothing about the site.

I flipped through "Pewter Marks of the World" too but didn't see it. They look pretty modern to me (keeping in mind I'm only really interested in 18th C early 19th C pewter )
