Featured Cast Iron Eagle Head Wall Hanging

    It could be stamped metal finished with a paint intended to give it a rougher cast-looking surface.

    Throwing out another idea. How about the 'lost wax' casting method? Isn't sand used in that process, which would explain the gritty texture?
    Did you try a magnet on it, Kardi?

    Have only earth magnet on hand. Sticks strong.

    Lost wax is normally used only for casting certain nonferrous metals, and Kard says the eagle tests positive for ferrous metal.

    The only way I know of to make the item shown in a production setting is by pressing a steel plate between two halves of a steel die in an hydraulic press. But I suspect I'm repeating myself!
