Do you recognizer the maker's mark or can you read the letters? TYIA

    I think the last is a P but what the heck is the first? Any help is much appreciated

    925 NP (for Nickel Plate?)

    Oooh, I hope not. The 925 generally stands for Sterling and the clasp does appear to be sterling. I thought I saw and N after looking at it for a long time. My eyes are crossed now!

    Probably made by some findings company in China/Hong Kong,just another box clasp which means little in reference to the necklace.

    Thanks Hollyblue. I see "NP" but know of nothing else that it stands for.
    As it is in a little bit "fancy" typestyle, it could be the maker. Or the maker of the clasp.

    I imagine you can test it for silver content. It doesn't look like it has a lot of age or use wear on it. The pearls are not separated with knots in the string. They are probably freshwater pearls, of a yellowish hue to start with.

    I agree, Chinese freshwater pearls, and the mark is likely to be just for the clasp. Many manufacturers buy findings wholesale.
    I keep seeing JIP btw, not that it really matters.;)
