Haven't posted here in awhile. have mostly been buying furniture and newer junk that goes straight to the store. here are a few things......

Bought this alabaster lighthouse lamp at my store from another dealer. It wasn't dirt cheap but was way under-priced. lighthouse1.jpg

The rest of these things are all from the thrift stores.

This little triangular dish or ashtray is probably Murano but it has a bit different bottom. The dots are not cut to clear but, rather, must have been punched into the glass before casing. I think the faded sticker is probably just an original retail tag. I don't usually buy such thing but thought this different and worth the two bucks. Any thoughts?

I don't know why I continue to buy things such as this that I can not sell. Japanese hand painted bowl in perfect condition, nice size, and only 50 cents ...... that's why!

Ditto what I said above. Hall Jewel Tea. $1.50 for both. There were also some small plates that I passed up because I did not want to mess with them. Thought I might at least have a snowball's chance to sell serving pieces.

Best find was this medium sized perfect condition Weller Burntwood jardiniere for a buck. The thrift was literally crawling with people, yet no one grabbed this.

These sterling cased coasters were $2.00. Bought at the same time as the above as people were walking by in droves.

The thrift put out a lot of ornaments really late this year. I had the opportunity to buy a large lot of vintage ornaments for $9.00 a couple weeks ago. I took them directly to the store so did not get a chance to post here. This week, I discounted all my Christmas merchandise so pulled the better vintage stuff that had not sold.

This is the bulk and best of the lot. What did sell were several Shiny Brite center indent ornaments, a couple boxes of 70's West German ornaments, and a couple boxes of MIB 60s plastic ornaments. Otherwise, they pretty much passed by the better stuff. They also passed by all my kugel style, reverse painted, and Christopher Radko stuff. I guess because they all were more than a dollar or two. I sold a load of modern glass ornaments and simple cheap vintage ones for a dollar or less.

This lot includes Shiny Brite USA, Other USA, Poland, West German, and one Japanese.

These are unmarked but probably 70s from Poland.

These are the best of the bunch......

That boxed set of ornaments is mid 80s. I bought an almost identical box new in 1984. I have an insane amount of tree Stuff.

The ashtray, I would say, is not Murano. For a start, it's moulded rather than blown. I'd surmise French, or possibly Sklo.

    Thanks Owned!

There is an identical ornament box in the lot that has 1978 written on the front with the name of the people that gifted it to the owners. I didn't picture it since the ornaments in it were not original to the box. I imagine the same boxes could have been used for a lot of years.

I wasn't too sure about the ashtray, which is why I asked. I understand about the bottom looking like it was molded but the rest is pretty irregular and free-form. The glass is also cased. Not sure how this could be done in a mold. Is it possible that just the bottom was press into a template to give it the bottom shape? ...... or done in a mold and manipulated after?

Thanks! I couldn't believe that it was just sitting there with all kinds of people milling about. The market here is really wacky. There is zero appreciation for pottery or most things old. I will not even try to sell this in my store. It would be an exercise in futility........ I have learned the hard way :(

1978 isn't so long before, so that makes sense. Yes, the bottom could have been pressed into a mould with the top more free. You can still case glass even when it's moulded.

That paper tag looked Japanese to me right off the bat but had to read down to find out if anyone else had spotted it. A friend sent me some surprise money for Christmas this year.... I thought I was buying this for resale, but it wouldn't come off my wrist when I bought it so I may just have to keep it. Iraqi silver. (thought it was Egyptian at first but the itty bitty marks say otherwise)

    Cheryl,

Thanks so much! Great link! I never would have thought Japanese. Checked ebay and there is a green one like mine currently listed that I like so much better. There is some other interesting glass attributed to Sasaki on ebay as well. Good to learn something new here today ;)

Found this in a thrift shop this past weekend for $3. I need to replace the clock mechanism.
