About 13 3/4" tall. Appears to be made of iron. Don't know if the black finish with the gilt splashes are original or later. The base is marked with what looks like letter E into a pentagon.
Any idea what is this supposed to be used for? Vase? Original or was modified from something else? Anyone has seen the mark before?
Sorry of for the bad photos. On some pictures the metal appears gold but that is from the light. It is all covered in black paint.

    Thanks

With all that rust, it looks like a fair amount of water exposure over it's life. Umbrella holder?

Too short for that - but I wonder if it was a flower vase for a grave?
I think it is very cool, whatever it is.

Thanks for the replies. No luck so far with the pentagon mark. To me it does not look like cemetery style vase, but who knows.

Yeah - that gold on it makes me rethink that idea. Rats!
I still really like it though.

I feel like this is not the original look and it was refinished at some point. If it was not the mark I'd think that it a hobbyist piece.
