Featured Is this McKee Innovation?

Is this bowl McKee Innovation 410? The bowl is 11" long, 7" wide. Thank you.

I yhought so also but checking the innovation line shown in Stout this is not. There is nothing resembling the pressed border.

 

Don't know the answer, but those pics are just wonderful. Wow!!!

The pressed blank used for cutting was common to most makers of that era. The maker did not necessarily do the cutting.

 

Somebody try searching Hughes Cornflower. I would, but my computer is getting crashier everyday. I don't feel like having to shut down and restart after an image search right now, LOL.
It might not pan out, but worth a shot, if someone can do the search quick and painlessly.

 

This bowl looks like a late ABP product. If I remember from reading, at the last of that era, they bought pre-configured blanks and did additional cutting to fancy them up but keep cost down. Also, lots of florals then instead of intricate geometric cuttings. MillCove, is this cut glass? Not pressed? Innovation was pressed glass. I've been wanting my husband to make me a light box. You'll have to tell us about how you did that. The photos are fantastic!

Thank you for the lead. I just searched Hughes Cornflower. The flower is very similar but I could not find a single piece with the border. My old computer was doing the same thing. Someone recommended running a Malwarebytes scan and it helped.

 

Ola, I was typing while you were posting. I found my McKee Innovation vase to compare it to the bowl and the bowl seems to be made of a better quality of glass. I thought the bowl was a combination of pressed and cut but I could be wrong. The flowers are definitely cut. The leaves, if cut, have been highly polished. I'm on the fence about the border.

This is a professional quality light box. My neighbor's sister passed away and she was a commercial artist. He asked me if I wanted to buy it and let me try it out first. This is a similar one I found on the web and it isn't cheap. I don't think I will ever find one for the price he's offering. I think it would cost me more to build it.

Both U. S. Glass Co. and Duncan & Miller had patents on wares similar to McKee's Innovation. this is not to say yours in one of theirs, but that other companies could easily have made similar wares.

I was perusing my one and only book on ABP and found this photo. This celery sure looks like your pattern.



The caption reads: " . . . showing the transition from the Brilliant to the Flower Period. Although Hobstars dominate this 11 inch celery tray, the daisy makes an appearance. (Walker Collection)."

That's why I don't buy ABP books because most of the authors don't know the names/makers of the patterns either. I looked through the rest of the book, but this pattern didn't appear again with any additional information. But at least you know your item is ABP Flower Period.

I agree with you about the ABP books. I bought one book and was shocked at how little was identified. The old catalogs and advertisements give better information.

 

I hear ya !!! Though some books are better than others...! Catalogs are very good..but unfortunately..you would have to have so many of them..so many makers!!!

I currently have about 8 books....but probably will be selling them soon...as I REALLY, REALLY am trying to clean out and downsize..!
